WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Your pre-op appointment will be performed at Dr. Taha’s
office or with a physician at one of the affiliate hospitals where the surgery
will be performed. A Medical Physician will perform the pre-op medical evaluation.
At this appointment your medical history will be reviewed, physical performed,
lab work, EKG, and fitting
for a neck or back brace, if you are having a fusion surgery.
Surgery, if required, is performed at one of the many
locations. Surgery can be outpatient, to overnight observation, to a couple of
days in the hospital (inpatient). Dr. Taha and Nathan, PA perform the rounds at
the hospital. Nathan is the Physician Assistant who also attends the surgery with Dr. Taha.
Recovery and Post Op Appointment
Your recovery can range from just going home (most cases, minimally invasive), home care, to a couple of days in an inpatient rehab facility.
Your post-op visit is performed by Nathan or Dr. Taha 1-1/2 to 2 weeks after surgery. Your condition is checked, mesh or sutures are removed, wound care instructions are covered, level of activity, work release, etc. At this visit you will receive clear instructions on your post-surgical care. Please be sure to ask during your appointment if you have specific questions you need answered.
